Bureau bookcase 

Solid mahogany and veneer, England, end of 18th century

This composite item of furniture comprises a chest of four drawers flanked by small one-door cupboards and a drawer, a writing bureau with a flap and a bookcase with glass door with a one-door cupboard on either side. The decoration on the different panels comprises a central reserve with mahogany burr veneer surrounded by darker mahogany. The glass door has fifteen panes separated with small wooden pieces forming squares and octagons. The flap conceals an interior of lovely quality comprising different drawers, open compartments and a small central door.
The handles of the three lower drawers of the chest are not period. The lower plinth is missing.
